WHERE DOES THE TIME GO?

Sorry I have not done anything else with my cross stitch swap.  I am going to wait until the first of the year when every thing slows down a bit before I get going on it.

Update on the cross stitch books.  All of them have been mailed and taken.  After the first of the year, I will do some more cleaning and I will have some more stuff.

I finally got my mini quilt swap done and mailed it to tis me.  This is a picture of the one she sent me.  It is made with wools.  It is very pretty and I will hang it in my sewing room and cherish it forever.

This is the one I made for tisme.  It was a lot of fun and a challenge to make but you need to get on your galloping horse to look at it because there are mistakes in it.

I HAVE AN IDEA FOR A SWAP FOR CROSS STITCHERS

I want to start a swap for cross stitchers.
All the projects need to be small.
Examples:

Needle books
Scissor Fobs
Needle rolls
Pin cusions
Christmas ornaments

More ideas after I see if there is an interest and see how many people we have that might want to play along.
Iwould like to start this the first of the year.......  Would not want to start anything new before the first of the holidays.
Questions to answer to help me get the swap going.

Do you want me to pick out the project and everyone swap that particular thing?
Would you rather me give you a list and let you pick from the list and make whatever you want?
I have never hosted a swap so if any of you have any ideas just let me know.
The Just Cross Stitch magazine puts out a special edition of thier magazine about this time every year and it is nothing but Christmas ornaments.  This is a book full of cross stitch patterns from several disigners and gives you a lot to choose from.

More to come later, I have to walk my dog.

Christmas Cross Stitch

If anyone is interested in any of these cross stitch books, just let me know.  I have been cleaning out my stash and could live to be 200 and never get it all stitched.

The top three  are craftways "A Cross-Stitch Christmas"
top left is "From Hand and Heart"
middle one is "Holiday Memories"
right one is "Season of Joy"
They are all three hardback books that have never been used to cross stitch anything out of.

The second picture is on the left "100 Cross-Stitch Christmas Ornaments"
the one on the right is "Christmas Stockings in Cross-Stitch"

The third picture is not a cross stitch book.  It is a book from Better Homes and Gardens
"Santa Claus" 1999 Collection. It is full of colorful pictures of Santas used in home decor for the holidays and lots of holiday recipes.

These two are  "Holidays Remembered" from Leisure Arts and "All Through The House" by Leisure Arts.
There is one more in the middle that did not make it into the picture called "Timeless Ornaments"

Anyone interested in these, just let me know and I will get them to you.

This is a quilt I quilted this week for a friend of mine.  I used the new binding method that someone posted a link to a blog on the HgTV message board.  I think the blog was TLC Stitches.blogspot.com.  When I went there to view the tutorial I realized that some of the fabrics she used were the same ones that my friend used.

This piping binding is really easy. with just a small amount of practice it would look really good on both sides.

Update on Emb Machine

This computer is loaded with EDSIII digitizing software.  You can scan in your designs or transfer them from a bitmap with a cross hairs mouse.  All the manuals and disc are here. There is also a Walter Florianni workbook to help you get a better grasp of all the punching tips and shorcuts.  The little shelf to the right is where I keep my thread and extra hoops.  The hoop in the front is a hoop for cap fronts.

I am asking $3500 for the complete set up.  It would be a perfect way to add additional income for someone.

This does not take up much room.  The two cabinets it sits on are kitchen type cabinets and they sit in the end of my utility room.  They come with the machine.  If I sale the machine I dont need the cabinets.

more information

Here are the pictures of the mchine and computer

this is the front view of the machine

This is the wide assortment of thread.  On the left front corner of the table is some designs that I have purchased. They are Christmas designs and some Red Hat lady designs.  The book underneath is a Dakota Collectibles design catalog.  The entire catalog is loaded on the computer.  You will need to back up these designs because I do not have the disc.
This machine is a work horse.  It has never given me any problems.
If you are interested, please email me with any questions you may have.

I want to sale my embroidery machine.

I never use this anymore.  I know someone would get a lot of good out of it. I have taken good care of it.
My sister and I opened an embroidery shop in late 1996.  We started out with this machine and a Melco 4 head.  We used it quite a lot the first 3-4 years.  In 1999 I got out of the business we had together and brought the EPI home with me.  It has been rarely used since then.  I take it every other year to Columbus and have it serviced and cleaned.

I am selling everything that goes with it.

l.  auto font- a program that digitizes any font you have on your computer or on a disc. It is automatic and will have any font you want sew ready in just a few minutes.

2.  EdsIII.  program to sew your designs

3.  digitizing software-  this allows you to take any artwork you have and turn it into a sew ready design.

4. the computer which is designated to run only the EPI machine.

5.  All the manuals to go with running the machine and the software.

6.  A wide assortment of thread  Madiera, Isacord, Coats & Clark, and Robinson Anton.

7. One roll of cut away backing and one roll of cutaway backing.

EPI machine with built in bobbin winder.

Pictures are to follow.

I have a house guest.

I have a house guest staying with me and I am going to really have to do some praying for her.
It is Nickilee's Garden Angel and I am sorry to say she is a wild and crazy slut!!!!!.  She had a date this weekend with none other than Elvis.  Even with a chaperone she was all over him.  Pictures and details to come later.  Right now I am exhausted and I am going to bed.  Keeping her out of jail was a full time job for me.  When it comes to Elvis, this girls showed no scrupples or restraints.

Be sure to check back later for more details and pictures.

Warm buns.

Nikki's garden angel

My guest arrived just in time to help me recover from knee surgery.  We will be fine in a few days. We just had a simple scope done to do some minor repair.  It turns out that most of my knee pain is from arthritis.

Ms Garden Angel is watching over me and keeping me company.  We have been laying here discussing how unfair it is for me not to be able to drive for a few days and we have so many places we want to go, Not to mention the brand new Chevrolet Equinox darling hubby bought me last Friday.  Bummer.  We have a lot planned and we will celebrate the first of the week when I can drive again.

I should have had this done this summer and it would be over with.  It is just an old football injury that I was putting off because I dreaded it so much.  I have been on a diet since the middle of JUly and the more I walked the more it hurt.  I lose weight better if I exercise and watch what I eat.  If I just watch what I eat it does not come off as good.

Now as soon as Ms Garden Angel and I are ready to travel again we are going on a mission to find Elvis.  We know he is not gone and is most likely hanging out somewhere in town.

Will I ever have another leisure day?

I am exhausted.  I have spent the last month taking down all the pictures off the walls storing away all the decor in my house.  We had all the interior of the house painted except two bedrooms.  We had all the ceilings, walls, and trim painted.  I would have a lots rather move than all that.

Now I get to dust and clean off everything as  I put it back where it belongs.  I have a list a mile long to go on free cycle of things that no longer match the new colors.  None of my curtains work anymore.  I have to make new drapes and new quilt for my bed.

We spent 4 long days watching tv and living in the spare bedroom because all the furniture was covered up in the rest of the house.  I have spent the last three days cleaning and putting everything back where it belongs.
Mike has spent the last two days buying paint and repainting places that the painters missed.  You would think that if you paid someone to paint your house it would be painted.  It does not always work that way.
If I half ass done something like that for someone else, it would ruin my reputation and I would starve.  I guess I did not do my home work and check her out good enough.  LESSONS LEARNED!!!!!!

Darling husband bought me a new car Friday.  I love it.  I have been driving a pick up truck since my daughter got married in 1997.  It is a mocha metalic (taupe) colored Chevrolet Equinox.  It has all the bells and whistles on it.  Almost too fancy for me.

Tomorrow I am doing the blood work and preregistering for surgery on my knee Thursday.  I should be incapacitated for a few days this weekend.  I have had this done before and as I remember it was painful for a few days.  I was a lot younger then than I am now.

My journey has hit a brick wall since I have not been able to walk and exercise.  I hope by this time next week I can start back walking.  I have lost 21 pounds and I have hit a brick wall.  Hopefully things will get back on track shortly after my knee surgery.

I will try to post pictures of the new car and new house colors this week.
We had a birthday party Sat at the new fire station for John Paul and Ruth Ann.  The kids young and old had a very good time.  I will try to post some pictures of that also.   I will do it Friday while I can not get around very well.

HAPPY LABOR DAY TO EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU!!

I have been on a journey since July 14th. {i hate the word diet so I call it a journey} I have lost 21 pounds and still have quite a few more pounds to go.  Wish me luck!!! I used to say I wanted to make my husband proud of me again for our 40th wedding anniversay.  I dont say that anymore.  I JUST WANT TO BE PROUD OF MYSELF!!!

Happy Birthday to my dear husband on Sept.4, 2010.  He is eligable for Social Security.  I can not believe I am married to someone that is 62!!!

We left Friday and went to Foxworth, Ms to spend the night with Mikes brother and his wife, Micky and Janet.  When Mickey got off work Sat. at noon we left and went to Ocean Springs, Ms.  We ate at a place in Van Cleave called The Shed.  It lived up to its name.  It looked like my sons  little barn in his back yard only this place had started out as a take out place and they had added on  several times to make it into a
place to sit down and eat.   Gooooooood food.  Wild and crazy atmosphere.  After dinner we found a sports bar and watched the end of the crazy end of the Ole Miss non game.  We then stayed to watch the MS STATE game.  We got up this morning and headed home as we have painters coming in the morning to paint the interior of our house before Thanksgiving.

Uncle Mickey will be at our house for Thanksgiving and it will be his 60th birthday on the 26th of November.  Our Thanksgiving dinner will probably turn into a birthday party for him.

Now to get home to find out how much damage I have done to my 21 pound weight loss!!!

I did get a lot of work done on my mini quilt due in November.  It is for an HGTV board member so I wont be able to post pictures of it until after she receives it.

I did just finish quilting a quilt for Quiltaholic for her Ronald McDonald House raffle. I hope I win it.
I will have to post a picture when I get home.

I FOUND A NEW WAY TO DO WATER AEROBICS TODAY!!!!!

We have had a terrible heat wave since the first of August.  On the school bus every afternoon it has been averaging about 115 degrees with the heat index.  The steering wheel just sticks to my hands and takes a while to get the black off my hands after I run the bus route.

This morning I came home and it was 80 degrees and cloudy and just barely sprinkling rain.  I thought I would walk outside since we had a break in the heat.  It was really nice.  I walked and walked and when I got 2 miles up the road I turned around and came back.  The reason I turned around is the clouds rolled in and the bottom fell out of the sky.  I was drenched.  It felt pretty good except the water on my glasses bothered me.  I took theme off and hung them on the top of my T-shirt.   By the time I got back to my driveway it had quit raining so I walked the half mile down the other way from the house to the main road.  I walked back the half mile and went around the back of the house.  We live in the country and during the day everyone within eye range of me is at work except mom.  So I took my wet clothes off on the back porch and came in and got dried and dressed.  I was going to get on the internet and see if it was going to rain on me on the evening bus route.  Wait, I need my glasses.  Ok they are hanging on my shirt.  I went out on the patio and no glasses.

I can not see how to do anything except long range stuff. Here I go again walking up and down the road looking for my glasses.  It took me an hour and a half to walk it the first time and it took me 3 hours to walk it the second time.   Still no glasses.   I called the doctor and asked about getting more glasses.  If I got there by 5 I could get another pair by Friday.  Oh no I can not even go the the bathroom without my glasses.

I ran my bus route and Mike called me.  I found your glasses.  Where?  On the mat on the back porch.
Every time I would go to the door to check my wet shirt, I would open the door and the glasses would be behind the door.  That saved me a bunch of money.    Plus I walked 10 miles today.  I am so tired that supper is going to be something easy.

Yard sale find

This is my yard sale find for this morning.  I had to run to town and I run across a convenient yard sale.
I went in and it looked like a bunch of junk.  I asked the lady if she sewed because she had a huge box of clothing patterns.  She said no her son worked for Hancock fabrics and when he was supposed to throw away the outdated patterns he would hoard them.  I said oh   ok I was looking for buttons, lace, broken jewelry and that sort of thing for CQing.  She said well I have this mini sewing machine.  Oh cute, how much.  $1.00.  Oh ok.  It has never been out of the box.

A friend of mine has bought a quilt store and I went to check it out and look what I came home with.
Now when Darling Husband ask me what I want for my birthday or Christmas I can say more cutting molds or whatever you call them.  It came with a 6 inch block, a two inch block and some small half square triangles.

Quilt was won by Brittany

Each year for our family reunion I make some kind of friendship block.  Everybody that attends the family reunion gets to sign the inside of the block and we put the birhdays under their name.  Then after dinner we put all the blocks in a bag and draw a block.  Whoever's name is drawn wins the quilt.

Brittany is the new wife of my cousins  that had only been the family for a few months.  She requested a wall hanging so I did not sash it and only put a small border on it. I put a sleeve on the back to hang it.

My cousin called me a few days before the reunion this year and told me that at 7 pm after the reunion his daughter was getting married.  I know "You know your a redneck if you get married at a family reunion!
Well his new son in law to be won this one.  I will put it together and present to the winner next year at
the family reunion.

This Blogging is for young folks!

The more I try to learn about this blogging the more I find there is to learn.  I have learned that free does not always mean free.
I have got to stop bloggin now long enough to get some quilts finished.

I Really Messed Up Last Night!!!

I found out how to download music and add it to my blog. But when I tried to come to my blog my computer would not open any internet explorer windows.  I went to windows explorer and found that I had no more room on my hard drive in my laptop.  I proceeded to look to see what was taking up so much room that I could get rid of.  I got jump drives and put all my saved stuff on them and freed up some room.
I finally realized that the music place I had downloaded had taken up all my room.  I tried to uninstall it and I kept getting a popup block that told me I had to have permission to uninstall it for me to call them.

That did not work.  I called iYogi my tech support at 11:00 pm.  That was a mistake.  I did not get off the phone until 5 am.  I got rid of a lot of stuff on my computer and the music place download but he also did away with all my passwords.  I had to add passwords all day today to be able to get back on the sites I normally visit.  What a day.

I joined a water aerobics class in town that meets Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 till 11:30.
I did not wear any sunscreen on my face and now I have fever blisters all over my top lip.  But I lost 4 pounds last week.

Boy did I Mess up!

I worked half the night to find out how to make my blog have music.  To no avail.
I got up fresh this morning and managed to figure it out.  I downloaded what music I wanted and when I came over here to add it to my blog  my computer crashed.  I spent all day working on it and it took me two hours just to defragment my laptop.  Someone had set the preferences to NEVER where it ask when is the next scheduled defrag.   Boy these technologolocal thingamajigs just drive me crazy!

COF Retreat Portland, Oregon

Just returned from retreat and already anxiously awaiting sign ups for 2011 retreat in Charlotte, NC.
We had such a wonderful time. I met some really wonderful people and brought home some fabric from Fabric Depot. I was very good and did not go overboard. I knew it all had to fit in suitcase to come home.

Saturday trip to Sisters was a once in a lifetime opportunity. The quilts, town and people were all a sight to see. If you dont go to see this you are missing chance of a lifetime. The bus ride home was memorable thanks to the a/c not working on the bus.

Let me warn you now. If the a/c is not working properly on the bus then it does not cool the collection tank under the potty. I was so hot at sisters all day that I drank a gallon of water or more. On the bus on the way home I had to go really bad. We were on that winding down hill road out of the mountain and I kept thinking that at any moment we would round the curve and see the rest stop. Welll I couldnt wait. Pandibear said something to me on the way to the back of the bus but I had tunnell vision to the bathroom door and praying I would make it.

When I opened the door it was hot in there. I thought well it is because the a/c is not working properly. I was wrong. When I set down it was like MT SAINT HELEN! I got up really fast.
Hence my new board name "WARM BUNS ARISING". Have you ever tried standing up and holding on to keep from falling while you are using the bathroom. Quiltzilla and I had been talkig about California earthquakes before I went back there. She told me I would know what an earthquake felt like when I got in there. SHE WAS RIGHT! I finally got thru with my business and then the hard part. I tried to get my pants back up but we were on such a curvy road and I had no idea which way we were going next. I was falling into the wall and into the sink. I would hold on with one hand and pull on my pants with the other. One side would come up but the other side would not. I needed another hand! I am glad no one was in there with a video camera. I finally spread my feet apart as far as they would go and laid my face against the wall in front of me and braced myself. I quickly used two hand to get put back together and got out of there.

It was so hot in there that it felt like I had been in a sauna. Have you ever had a facial? They take the exfoliant, which feels like it has sand in it and scrub your face with it. Then they wrap hot towels around your face. When they take that off your face is burning and tingling. Then they put that moisturizer on there and you go AAAHHHHHHH! It feels so good. Well sitting down on that toilet was like a facial with out the moisturizer!

Note to self: Do not use the potty on the bus if the a/c is not working and if you are on a mountainous curvy road.
